Sao Paulo became the second team to reach the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores after they beat Brazilian compatriots Cruzeiro 2-0 to claim a 4-0 aggregate win in the quarter-finals.
After the 2-0 home defeat last week, Cruzeiro were looking to reduce the deficit early on and put pressure on their opponents. However, forward Kleber was sent off in the first minute for knocking Richarlyson on his face when he was trying to protect himself and this proved fatal for the Belo Horizonte side.
In the 23rd minute, Junior Cesar did well on the left side to go past Henrique and Jonathan before he passed to Hernanes, who opened the scoring with his left foot.
Cruzeiro boss Adilson Batista made attacking substitutions in the second half but Ricardo Gomes' side doubled the lead through Dagoberto, seven minutes after the break.
Sao Paulo join Guadalajara of Mexico in the last four which will be played after the World Cup.
